C&S No. 88

Where do you guys usually buy No. 88? There's a store around the corner from where my parents live that carries 100 ml. bottles. But they want $185. With California tax, that's over $200. If my wife finds out I spent over $200 on a bottle of cologne, she'll shank me a new sphincter.

Try Cambridge Chemists--you get 10% off and free shipping if you say you're from here. Depending on the exchange rate, it might be cheaper to order it directly from C&S too.

The other option is to haunt the B/S/T. Bottles show up every now and then.

I put a little on the back of my hands and on the inside of my wrists for the same reason.

I'm curious, too, to know to what extent "Longevity" is affected by: A) quantity of scent applied, B) whether scent is sprayed or dabbed on, and C) to which parts of the body the scent is applied.

I'm looking forward to your findings.

My wife does not like the smell, but I love it, so every time I wear it she complains but I just ignore it LOL. Longevity is a big issue with me, I don't get more than a couple of hours of scent on me, I am sure it is skin type and body chemistry ... oh well, I was told by you know who, that I am not to renew it when it is over, so I am wearing it daily maybe she will like it

:lol::lol:....and she should, since you can get it for a lot less from Cambridge Chemists, and Nid Hog is right, someone had a bottle on BST a few weeks ago for ~$95, and someone had it for about that on BN. Hmmm, think I'll send a pm.....

Hey Maher, thanks for bringing back a nice avatar!

The C&S shipping costs are insane! 20 pound to mainland Europe. I Figured that if escentual is cheaper for me, it might be cheaper to the USA too. 74 pound is $121 according to google. Not much cheaper then Cambridge Chemists though.

Last I checked, CC charged $115/100ml (less the discount). If you get someone to go in with you, the have $175/200ml (less the discount). The only cheaper place I've seen has been in the F/S section at BN. For whatever reason, it seems #88 appears there often. I got mine for $95.

I find this scent too floral on my skin and I was grateful that it was very short lived, about 2 hours. However, I can understand why some of you gents like this fragrance. I own and periodically apply Shaal Nur which is also a floral scent and somehow I believe it works for me and is not too feminine. Who know, maybe I am wrong, but that is Ok I am not worried that a scent will define my masculinity. That said, it really pays to get samples before buying when the price is as high as this one is. C&S is great in this regard, and I saved a bunch of $s as I did not find any of its scents worth the money on me.

For the most part, I agree with you. I love 88, but I didn't care much for any of the others. Oxford & Cambridge was good enough that I might pick up a larger sample somewhere, but overall my interest in C&S starts and finishes with 88.

I think I love all of the masculine and neutral C&S's except for Mimosa. Citrus Paradis, Neroli, Dark Rose, O&C (wish it lasted longer), Cuba (maybe with a bigger sample I wouldn't; I want Aramis Havana to hurry up and be readily available again), and Frankincense & Myrrh. By far the best plumbing and fragrance house on earth! <g> Wish they were cheaper.

I really like this fragrance.

However I'm wondering: is no. 88 likely to encounter a negative reaction? Basenotes has a 'Men's scent just makes you want to rip a man's clothes' kinda topic, but I'm rather interested whether you think t is reasonable safe to wear.
