Cloudy Saturday. Inspired by BADGERary 2025, I chose a brush that I rarely use, but whenever I use it I come to the conclusion that I should use more, Yaqi Moka Express (Two Band Badger/26mm). It was 20 dollars very well spent. SV Morado is increasingly climbing my shelf and with Floïd The Genuine it makes a divine combination. For my 24-hour beard, I chose Greencult 2.0 II with a brand new Brazilian Wilkinson Sword.

Very underrated brush - for sure !!

Today was Kent’s BLK8 Silvertip

First shave with a Boti SMF 22mm bulb in this C40. This knot is fairly gelled and processed. I find it very similar to Simpson’s Manchurian, except this knot is denser, cleaner, and has more backbone. It is excellent and impressive for its price.

Oumo Flagship Limited Edition Chinese Lacquer, 27mm Kirin Super. The razor is a .68OC. I actually switched to the scalloped SB today; my face wasn't feeling as good as normal the morning after shaving with the OC.

Nice knot...impressions on this knot? what size and loft?

This is a 22mm knot set at 46mm loft. It is fairly gelled and treated, so it gets stiff when dry, and it is pretty soft on the skin. It is dense and comfortable with solid backbone. I find it quite similar to Simpson's Manchurian, but denser, with more backbone, and a little bit more gelled. I have the same knot in a bulb set in a C40, and I like that one a little better. My two band knots probably rank something like this:

Shavemac D01 Fan
DSC Manchurian 2 Badger
Boti SMF Bulb
Yaqi 2 Band
Simpson Manchurian
Boti SMF Fan (too flat)
Shavemac D01 Bulb (nice hair, but a little too pointy)

I also really like the Boti SHD Black Badger. It is my favorite black badger knot, ahead of Omega, Semogue, and DSC. I have one of the Boti natural three band knots on the way, and I am looking forward to trying it. I generally like less processed knots with good backbone, fast on the soap, and some scrubbiness, but some days I reach for something softer.
