Notes:

Excellent and quick shave today as I headed of to work early.

Still using the Nacets, but come Monday they will be replaced by either the Perma Sharps or the Wizamets. So far so good with these blades.

Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum blade 1 / shave 3

full

Today's shave was not as smooth as the one I had on Friday with this razor. I'm not sure if this is due to the blade becoming less sharp or the reduced amount of stubble (1 day vs 3 days) - or perhaps even the combination of the two. I guess I'll have to find out... stay tuned.

Happy shaves!

Not a great shave today. I went with an OC Nodachi and a Timeless OC 95. Maybe the blades were wearing out? This was day 7 for each blade, the equivalent of 3.5 regular shaves each.

The OC Nodachi was downright rough and left the left side of my face sore. I'll use the Konsul on "2" tomorrow on that side of my face to recover. The Timeless shave was OK, but not as close as that razor is capable of.

I had skipped 3 days shaving and the Ninja was up to the task. It was a smooth sharp blade for me with no tugging around the Adam's apple that I experienced with the Permasharp. I looked at my previous notes about this blade and I had initially assessed this blade as tuggy for the first 2 shaves until the coating had worn off. I did not experience that with this shave. I haven't used these blades for about 2 years. I guess my technique has changed enough in that time that I now find these better on the first shave!

Bonanza!

Well, I have once again forgotten which shave I've completed. Fourth maybe? I could go back and check, but where is the fun in that.

So my last shave on Friday evening went well, still no noticeable issues or drama. I can sense the blade getting a little dull but will push it for one more shave to be sure.

In order to find out more in detail, I loaded a fresh blade into the Razorock BBS A today. The razor effortlessly cut through my one day stubble and made for a smooth shave sensation. So it's been the blade which caused the difference in terms of smoothness. A difference which could be significantly felt...!

Cheers!

Notes:

Very enjoyable shave this morning. Last day using the Nacet blade. Looking back at the last two weeks of using Nacet behaved well. I got some really nice shaves with them. Not enough to restock them, but not bad either. I understand these blades are generally popular blades. Overall, I think the 7 O’Clock Yellow blades are slightly better for me.

Had a good recovery shave today with a fresh 7 O'clock Black. After trying to push through with a blade that should have been binned yesterday, I thought about skipping today altogether but decided to stick it out. I'm glad I did. I used the Rex Konsul on a setting of "2" on the inflamed side and a Diamondback on the other. I barely touched the aggrieved spots, but was able to knock the stubble down everywhere else. Though the 7 OCB is not the longest lasting blade, the fresh one was great. Had my face not been beat-up, I'm pretty sure I would have had no problem getting a BBS shave on both sides.

I will likely need a bit more time to heal up tomorrow and will use my Henson ++ and +++ with the 7OCB for that shave

7 O'clock Black - new blade for shave #5

My stubble returned early after the 4th use, so I'm aligned with what others are saying about the blade life. No discomfort or tugging was felt (if I wasn't such a master at lather making I might have felt it😅).
Went with the Syntesi which I've been neglecting lately. Very good result after 2 passes and touchup in spots. A little witch hazel (first time ever using it), and I'm very satisfied!!! The durability vs price is so far the only concern for me with this blade.

An absolutely brilliant shave this morning! Wow! It’s just the first shave, but this blade seems to be absolutely outstanding and amazing!

Today was day 2 for these blades (1/2 shave each so far), in a pair of Hensons, the ++ and the +++. Coming into the shave, the left side of my face was still a bit sore, so I went with the ++ there and also took it easy on the right with the +++. The 7OCB provided a smooth and close shave on both sides, despite my limited and lite touch. I wouldn't call this a recovery blade, but it did a decent job in that role.

I would agree with Luc and others on the longevity. Three and done for me with this one. The drop-off after three full shaves was significant. I would also note that at the $15/100 I paid, these blades are fine, but they are not worth more than that.

Shave #1 - Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum (Blade 2)

Efficiency and comfort were back to high parameters upon using a fresh blade. The Super Plat really is a nice blade new.

Anyone use the Astra SP (India) extensively? I'm curious what you think about the Super Platinum and Superior Platinum having similar manufacturing specs? I haven't made conclusions one way or another, but I do think the two share a high level of DNA.

Quick question - has anyone using the Game Changer with these 7 O'Clock Blacks noticed difficulty loading the blade onto the baseplate tabs? My .76 plate is a struggle to get the blade to fit on the tabs and I haven't had that problem with any other blade. My blades are old stock from 2012; maybe that tolerance has changed since then.

I do recall some difficulty last week removing the blade from a .76 baseplate. It wasn't a huge problem though like happens with my DSCosmetic AX-SE where I have to pry off blades occasionally with a flat lever. Mine are newly purchased off Amazon in the last month.

Today's shave was Monday personified. I don't like the Sterling razor, and shouldn't have used it. WTG and ATG were great, actually. XTG was a slog.

Tomorrow starts Antique April so I'm thinking about what I'll use.
