What's new

B&B Knife group buy- Info post

Here would be my wishes:

1. carbon steel
2. A beautiful handle of some kind. Maybe some polished wood.
3. No B&B logo or anything
4. 8" chef's knife
5. Anywhere under $200

Of course, I would trust anything recommended by you our Ouch.

Can you say why?

Is it the style of knife or the material? the geometry or the handle?

There are many knives that are in or near that pricepoint.

My buddy who's a chef has this knife and it's super light, well balanced, and it's versatile.

After looking around, this knife can be purchased for less than $100 @ chef's knives to go.

I'd like to chime in quickly to say: I morally support this group buy, but I don't have enough shaving stuff to sell to financially support it. I will look forward to seeing the result, though!

+1, I would love a good knife, but can't get in on this one right now

This post is for interest only, we will be looking to source the best value and discount we can find to bring to the B&B. There are lots of choices, and whatever we end up with will be a "cut" above!

This thread was very informative, The assumption was the price point needed to be sub 100.00 and only stainless.

If we move to a Carbon knife and >100.00 we have many more options/lines available.

Those who are left handed need not worry, whatever knives we chose you will be good to go.

The comments would indicate a strong interest in a Chefs knife, Gyutou, a veg knife,Nakiri, and a slicer, Sugi.

The participation in this buy of Dave Martell also opens the option of custom/tuned handles, rounding of sharp edges and sharpening/ bevel bias adjustments.

Jon of Japanese knife imports will be available to help sort through options and help make choices that are appropriate to your needs.

So hang tight, it will happen!

Dangit Jim, I can't wait any longer. I haven't purchased a new knife in 3 months except for a cheap throw around wasabi petty eith plastic handle (doesn't count as a real knife to me except that it is sharp). Does Jon give us discounts? I must buy.

If that's the general area you're investigating, then I'm going to put money aside next week. Im in.

I'm open to different styles, but would use a veg knife most. If we are heading for about $100-$200, wooden handle and carbon blade I'm quite interested (pending funding of course).

Wow, I really do not get around much any more! I am late to the party, but I am interested. I assume carbon steel is a priority to me. Other than that, I am in your hands, if I can afford it! Japanese knives area are an area whether expert guidance brings a lot to the table for me! I can pick out my own watch, tasting glasses, shaving brush, or scents, but I cannot pick put out my own Japanese knife, that is for sure!

I'd like to participate!...

Im only a newbie with Kitchen knives though and have only recently been given permission to purchase some knives for my new kitchen...

I'd like a Chef's knife that would be around the 150 (would love to go higher, but alas international postage is a killer!)

So my goal is to find something where we can leverage a group buy to get better pricing, but either way, i'm sure we'll find something that fits what you guys are looking for. Jim has been talking to me about this for quite some time and I've had a chance to look around a bit. We initially thought that the price range would be a lot lower, but based on what you guys are looking for, there are plenty of good options out there.

I understand that and will buy whatever. I was just asking if you gave discounts to the B&B folks because I found a petty on your site I like.

Michael

If it is <$200 I would totally be down with the group buy. The only stipulation I have is that it has a B&B logo on it somewhere!
