Arko usage

Well I finished up my puck of Arko, I made the purchase back in October, and listed below are the dates of when I used the soap. As you can see I took some brief time off here and there, but overall I got about 25 shaves out of a puck. Today I'm going to get a puck of Williams and do the same thing on my spread sheet, and this way we can compare the results and see how many fewer or more shaves I get out of a puck of Williams.

You're doing a fine service my friend. 😄

I have a puck of Arko soap. Its unpleasant smell reminds me of the free hand soap you used to get in public toilets. I will probably throw it away before I use it up. I hate waste, but life is too short for nasty soap.

...but this one IS cracked.
My stick of Arko lasted way too long, about 2 months as I 3017d it, but I had it for more than 3 years using it occasionally. The scent reminds me of pub urinal pucks and every time I shaved with it it brought to mind shaving in a public toilet

my two favorite scents in shaving are Williams and Arko, I kid you not, also I'm a sucker for Polo Green which is my all time favorite scent, but due to it being so scarice and hard to find, I have to rely on soap makers to make a clone of it,.

Williams and Arko are my go to, I always have a puck of one or the other in my soap bowl. ALWAYS

Thanks for sharing your Arko numbers. And do it your way! My water or my ways may be different, but brother, shave on! :punk:

I have both Arko and Williams Mug each in both a mug and in a stick (grated a Williams puck into a tube and smashed an Arko stick into a mug). And ALWAYS AVAILBLE is my plan for both. Solidarity forever.

Never counted the amount of shaves I get from a stick but I'm pretty generous in terms of loading and can get a lot more shaves than that. As always though, YMMV. I always feel like the Arko stick starts to feel like a bottomless pit after a while, which is fine by me. Less product more water seems to be my formula.

I'm with the author and get the same number of shaves from soap similar amount. I think with hard water, you need more soap. I don't like to skimp soap but enough to enjoy lather.
I think shavers over estimate how long soap lasts. Especially if they have a large soap rotation.

Man, 3.7g of hard soap in one shave? Seems your beard is very thin, because that ammount of soap need tons of water. 4 pass shave? Try Mach3, i do 3pass with an old cart. Can go possibly wtg and atg too, but 3 pass i like more. I think if you add more water, less soap, you will easily get good shave, and you will save money on.

+1 on load 'til your hearts content and enjoy a wonderful lather. 25 shaves total out of a stick is pretty darn special. Yes, banana pancakes. But special.

I would expect that to change over time-- drastically, it would seem that it would naturally do so. I hope it doesn't. Good for you.

I really don't feel like I load that much soap, I have to be honest, maybe the numbers reflect that I do load too much, however it all goes back into the mug, and dries onto the puck, also what's odd is that I usually don't have much left, I'am using a synthetic brush, I don't know if that has something to do with it, but we will see how the results stack up against a puck of Williams.

Nah too much I would say no!
more as average to reach your preferred lather consistency yes.

The whacky thing is that you use a lot with a synthetic while these usually do not hold lather and behave badger hungry.

Now it could be that 30cm high display Yaqi brush which exists.

Do not worry about it just use it like you prefer to make lather.

I agree. I too seem to use more soap although it never seems like it.......just luxurious shaves which I enjoy every day. Anyway,, not sure why anyone should worry about using more Marko admits cheap, cheap, cheap!

With Arko, I've been using a boar brush and I load my brush for about a minute. Last night, I had an outstanding Arko shave. Still BBS, 13 hours later.

I just checked and in ~5 months I've used 56% of a stick. So ~.28 grams/three pass shave. I used to use about half of that, but I've been using more soap the last several years. I do use RO filtered water.
