Arko usage

I bought the 12 box of Arko stick 3 years ago, I shave and press a stick into my bowl and puck lather, using 2 to 3 other soaps in rotation, I still have 2 sticks left, plus whats in my bowl. Last year in Jan. or Feb. I bought my second box of 12, thinking I might run out of Arko. I'll have enough Arko to last into my 80's, if I live that long lol

I'm a new convert to Arko and just bought 3 pucks for 8£ post free on Amazon. I must say I was amazed I like it the best of all product regardless of price. I do feel it needs to be used extravagantly to get a luxurious lather. Loads of water so I reckon a puck a month. However, the resulting lather is fantastic as are my shaves with it.

After some nice shaves with Arko, I've had 2 days of a few red bumps on my chin! Hope it's not this soap. I will try proraso white for a few days as I know this is kind to me.

I've been keeping better track of my Arko usage, and I got 40 shaves out of my last stick. I squish the stick into a bowl and load my brush directly from that. That's quite a bit less than I used to get when I rubbed Arko on my face, like a shave stick. But my Arko shaves have also improved dramatically, so the tradeoff is well worth it, to me. The magic combination for my face was more soap and less water.

After returning to DE wet shaving, like others I tried various razors, soaps, and blades, and settled on a satisfactory combination figuring my experimenting was over.

Part of my combination included Williams Mug Soap, which was inexpensive, available, and did an adequate job. Suddenly "poof" it was discontinued. Looking for a replacement with price no object, I decided to give Arko stick soap a try. About $7.00 for three sticks delivered, and being the big spender that I am, I placed my order.

Anyway it really works, and doesn't dry out in use as the Williams did. I applied it directly to my wet face, then using a cheap synthetic brush, it developed a great lather, and once the brush was loaded, it continued to generate as much additional lather as needed.

As for the scent, when it arrived, I could smell it through the shipping package, which was probably an interesting experience for the mailman. Yes it does smell a bit industrial, but most of it is gone after rinsing with a washcloth, and a splash of Clubman.

My journey is over, having reached the happiest place on earth… Arkoland, not to be confused with that lesser place in Anaheim California. Maybe I can find a rodent in my garden to hug!

I believe I found my Williams replacement.

One can only appreciate the simplicity of this soap, no "pre-soak it overnight under a full moon" or "use hair from a virgin grass-fed badger" rituals.

I have hard water here in Germany and it is more difficult to contain the lather to what I actually need to use, than to generate it.
