Arko August 2024

August 15 shave:

I'm out of town for a few days. I've been using a Gillette tech as my travel razor, but switched to a Gillette Superspeed which gives me more blade feel. For me, the Superspeed is a better shaving experience. The blade was a Shark Super Chrome with a number of shaved on it. On the first pass, the blade didn't cut cleanly. I'll retire this blade when I get home. I brought my Yaqi Sagrada Familia synthetic brush to face lather ARKO! Plenty of great leather. Another excellent shave.

Face-lathered with an Arko shave stick again today. This stuff lathers really easily. I do note, though, that Arko might be slightly drying for me as I feel a bit of skin "tightness" after the shave. Aloe vera gel helps with that. No complaints about the shave itself, though.

Arko August

Razor:
RR Lupo 95 SB
Blade: Shark Super Chrome (11)
Brush: Yaqi Evil Zebra
Soap: ZM Explorer
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Creme
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water

Another 3017 shave with Explorer, the Lupo/Shark SC combo managed a good shave, but still some stubble left on my jawline. Looking at my Explorer tub I'm not sure it will last out Arko August. Does that mean I am likely to replace it with a stick of Arko? No, certainly not, I have many soaps that are similar to Arko at least in that they are shaving soaps, and generally that is where the similarities end.
Halfway there!
So far it’s been all Arko all the way.
Looks like you've had enough Arko shaves for the two of us!

And another 3017 shave tonight, but the blade is shot, it is starting to leave stubble on my neck and making it a bit uncomfortable, so I will be retiring the blade tonight, as that is the last Shark SC from that tuck I will begin another open tuck of something tomorrow night. I switched back to the T3 to see if I might finish the soap a fraction faster, although if it was Arko I would obviously be pounding it with my 26mm badger, but let's face reality, their isn't a brush yet invented that can get through a stick of Arko quick enough.

"Self appointed king of Arkoland"
I got the whole line from Pasteur's a good while ago but have not since it anywhere since. A quick search shows it at smallflower and Amazon. Two things to keep in mind. 1) It's a 100g tube, so smaller than Proraso or Palmolive. It doesn't take much though. 2) The "Cool" does not containing any cooling ingredients like menthol. It's more of "cool" scent like AV Ice SPORT. I have "Hydrate" which does contain a small amount of menthol.

Arko makes matching aftershaves/balms for their creams, but I've only seen them on ebay for more than I'm willing to pay.
Thank you for the reply my friend!

Arko August
SV Saturday

Razor:
Muhle R89 Rosegold
Blade: Feather (1)
Brush: RR Moka-soft beehive
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Creme
A/S: Clinique Happy For Men

Tonight I started on the elimination of a tuck of 4 Feather blades. I don't get many shaves from Feathers so I am hoping they won't last too long I used the R89 to tone down the sharpness for the initial use. As usual after debating with myself about whether or not to use Arko I realised it's SV Saturday and being in the Arko is a no go category means I must use SV and report how good it is to the Arko August thread, no matter how difficult it is for them to hear it. The good news is that the SV was second to none in scent and performance, it didn't smell like a pub urinal, or dry out my skin like last year's Christmas tree there was a little stubble left, but it has been so long since I used the R89 that is not a surprise

I missed this! It just so happens I’ve been using an Arko stick for the last few months and I just can’t kill it. It will easily make it through the end of August. I love the Arko lather. I just don’t know if I will use the box of 12 that I bought a couple years ago before I die.

The aftershave treatment consisted of 444 and Lavanda.
