Next month is my last month on active duty before I go on terminal leave and retire from Army after 21 years. Started my time as a combat medic with the 82nd Abn and did 4 overseas tours with 1/504 PIR and then the Army sent me to PA school which is what Ive done the last ten years.
Ft Bragg is where I learned to be a soldier, and Ill never forget the years of home for a year deploy for a year op tempo. I do miss the camaraderie being in the 82nd at times but I'm happy to be working in ERs now and continuing that work when I leave the military

I spent a year on Johnston Island guarding the chemical weapons from overseas as we destroyed them. If you want to go down a rabbit hole, look up Johnston Atoll on Wikipedia. Amazing history. Everything/everyone is gone now as it has been demilitarized and given back to nature except for the runway and one building (at least that is my understanding).
