What's new

A Personal Problem

We were all noobs once, always best to just post away so people can comment and give advise where they can to help.

As you can see, all the folks here urge you to ask questions, post your comments, etc. Often the question that is asked again is a good refresher for issues others may be having. It wasn't until I saw the 100+ post on cold water shaving that I tried it and liked it.

B&B is growing in membership and every new member has something to add to this great forum.

If you ever have a question about whether a topic, post, or comment is appropriate, just ask a moderator.

Jake; First of all forget the "noob" designation. I don't see the gap here. I've posted in the "old fogie" thread but that doesn't keep me from learning from anybody that shares my interest. I may have experience but I also have questions. So I ask and it doesn't bother me in the least because there are plenty of members willing to answer.

If you have a question, ask it. If you have something to say, say it. Should a n00b topic offend someone, that someone doesn't "get it."

We were all n00bs once.

The primary reason I'd say to search is that there is a lot of good information in those old threads.

Now about that cold water shave ... ?

I'm relatively new but I've found this to be the attitude of most members. This is why I feel so comfortable here.

If you find a thread that is on the topic you wish to know more about I've found that a PM to one who had a knowledgeable post in the thread will always reveal more fruitful, on point and candid answers from the member. I've never been told to take a hike by anyone when using this method.

+1... but to share with others, I'd suggest a post to the thread and a PM with a link to the thread saying something like:
"I saw your input on this topic, but I have a couple of questions if you would care to comment"

I joined and then read a lot of threads for the first two weeks before. I don't think I started posting regularly until after a month.

Well, that's all good to know, since I'm usually "that guy". I found myself in a similar position to the OP, but decided to go ahead and ask/contribute anyway.
Post at will! Just don't tell anyone you like the smell of Arko! :a39:

Wait a minute, what's that mean?!....somebody on here just sent me an Arko stick!! Is this some kind of newb joke?! LOL

You can post whatever you'd like. No one here will criticize you for it. I've asked questions that have probably been asked before.

This is not a Java programming forum.
It is a discussion forum and it revolves around a daily experience. Each one if us is unique and thus our experiences are unique.
Feel free to share and ask as you see fit.

Post away bro...if anyone gives you a hassle the Mods will cover them in Arko scented lather....

Seriously this place is about gentlemanly behavior....there is a newbie section for a reason...most folks like to talk about the art of old wet shaving and like to help new folks.

... I now hesitate to post my (n00b) experiences as I have seen from other long-time members that the endless list of newbie topics that get posted again and again is somewhat irritating to the general membership and I would rather save myself the embarrassment of posting my first-time experiences ...

The general sense I get, and I hope I am accurate in this, is that the general membership is welcoming of "n00b" postings. The only thing that would get ME irritated is any longstanding member here who acted in a way to make newcomers feel like their "n00b" postings were somehow unwelcome or annoying.
