Same kit as yesterday. The more I use the ATT X1 Slant, the more I want to use it.

Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #3
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

Back to the 1.05mm Game Changer. The combination of a big gap and a smoothed-out blade seems to work the best. I got another easy near-BBS.

Cannot imagine getting a much better Shave with one a modern super premium razors. I am a Vintage Gillette Junkie. Color me HAPPY.

I think the Game Changers are based on vintage Gillette designs, and they are (relatively) cheap.

I'd certainly try a Tech, if one came up in reasonable shape at the right price. My newbie razor, circa 1975, was an Old Type, probably not the best plan...

Think about every modern Razor is TECH inspired, as for availability in Scotland? Do they not have Antique Shops, Estate, and Moving Sales there? Or Ebay.

Day# 10, Today is 01-10-2025, Shave Report




Razor: 1956 Ball-End Tech
Blade: Personna Super, Day 5 use.
Soap/Cream: Cremo Classic Citrus (Secret Sent)
Bowl: N/A
Brush/Instrument: Fingers
Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel



Used my 1956 Ball-End Tech, IMHO is amazing Razor, this Razor was PIF thanks to @gpjoe.

Did 3 pass Shave Against, With, & Across the grain, with Personna Super, it was almost no blade feel, blade just glide like skating on ice, removed Beard with ease. Shave was 9.7 not BBS, but still DamFine Shave. Thinking I will use tomorrow and then retire.


Used New Tube of Cremo Citrus, different smells but NO TRUE Citrus, goofy Cremo Smell. Still trying to experience the Citrus smell, think the Clara Peller the lady from Wendy’s Hamburger Commercial would be yelling, “Where the Citrus”. Because if it there, it not much Citrus smell, could corporate America be pulling wool over eyes?. Me think so.


Love my Old Vintage Gillette’s, good Razor’s, still working well enough to put a big smile on my face.

For the next few shaves I will be trying out the contenders for my next 3017 shave. Tonight I started with RR Santa Maria del Fiore and although it lathered quickly and it was slick it wasn't quite top drawer slick. The result left only a small patch of stubble on my neck which I probably could have eliminated with a touch-up pass I just left it as is.

Pretty basic setup today. A Tech, Indian Gillette blade, the Turkish delight Arko and a branded synthetic brush. Doesn't get much simpler and the results couldn't have been much better. Great shave and it's time for the weekend!

Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

In the spirit of using things up, I tried canned Gillette Gel for a change. Treat it like a cream, and it bowl lathers like one. It works well enough, but the scent, if there is one, is swamped by the smell of propellant. I got another easy near-BBS.
