Participation PIF: Rembrandt’s Shaving Masterpiece.
Week seven and still using my sixth blade the Japanese Kai blade. I opted to try it for another week and again the only thing to report is some sting when I used my Alum Block. I have shave number eight on the blade and I think it will go on for a few more shaves quite easily. There I have probably jinxed myself now.

Week seven and still on blade six the Japanese Kai blade. It still did its job this morning but I may have been a little ambitious with pushing it another week. I had no blood or real irritation but the sting increase when I used my Alum Block was noticeable. Maybe my angle was slightly off but anyway I will try it again tomorrow and see what happens.

Week seven and still using blade number six my Japanese Kai blade now on its tenth shave. Not bad today, definitely better than yesterday’s shave. All going well I should get to Sunday and this time I should get fourteen shaves on this blade. I didn’t draw any blood and there was no visible irritation but the sting is certainly increasing ever so slightly everyday.

Week seven and still using my sixth blade the Japanese Kai blade. Now on shave number eleven and this morning’s shave was okay. I did have a little red patch on my left cheek near my nose but there was no blood and the sting when I used my Alum Block was much the same as yesterday. Week seven and still using blade six a Japanese Kai blade on shave number twelve. The blade is slowing down somewhat. It is starting to struggle ATG but I still think that I can get another two shaves out of it. I didn’t draw any blood, there was no visible irritation but there was just a little increase in sting when I used my Alum Block. I am quite liking Kai blades at the moment.

Week seven and still using blade number six the Japanese Kai blade on its thirteenth shave. Well it bit me this morning, I gave myself a weeper on my right cheek near where my lips meet. The sting when I used my Alum Block was more than yesterday. I will use it for one more shave to get my two weeks worth and then I will use the last blade in this Participation PIF which will be another Kai blade.
Had another Rembrandt shave for Vintage April. Nicely gentle and smooth.

Week seven and my sixth blade the Japanese Kai blade on its fourteenth and final shave. Well, I pushed it to far. This mornings shave was very draggy, and ATG was not nice. I finished up with no blood loss but some visible redness on my cheeks and lots of sting when I used my Alum Block. My face felt raw during my shower and it did settle down when I applied aftershave balm. I am happy that I tried the extra shaves even though I suffered a little this morning. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Week eight and my final blade which is another Japanese Kai blade. This week I swapped out to a G3 Gillette Fatboy. I haven’t used one for a long time and it showed. I did enjoy the weight of the Fatboy but I struggled a little to get my upper lip area. The blade may take a shave or two to settle down as it didn’t feel as smooth as the first shave that I had with the last blade two weeks ago.

Week eight and using my final blade another Japanese Kai blade. I did something I normally don’t do today, I swapped razors after one shave and I used a Gillette G4 Gold Slim. I found it to be the same as yesterday. I had some trouble under my nose and I had it set on the same setting of 3. I might use the Fatboy tomorrow morning and then use the Gold Slim on Thursday.

Week nine, and using my last blade in this PIF the Japanese Kai blade. A pretty good shave this morning. I went back to the G3 Gillette Fatboy and I tried to take my time. I am still getting used to going under my nose with the Fatboy. It’s been a long time since I used one. I will more than likely only go one week with this blade.
