Vikings at the Gate: Week ten, blade nine, Vikings Sword Super Stainless.

The blade is slowing done. After three passes I could still feel some stubble and because I am using a little extra pressure to try and get the stubble I did have some extra sting when I used my Alum Block. Two more shaves and it will all be over.

How many shaves do you have on this particular blade. I've lost track.

Vikings: 2nd use this blade
Razor: Wunderbar
Soap: ToOBS cream
Sagrada Fam
AS: Proraso Red

Sometimes I shave and feel as if I had forgotten the blade, no feel at all.....run a finger.....nice cutting
2+ pass shave. It went smooth and feels great.

I think you deserve a new blade for NY eve/ NYs, something smooth and no burning.....:velva2:

Vikings at the Gate: Week ten, blade nine, Vikings Sword Super Stainless.

Vikings at the Gate penultimate shave this morning. Shave number thirteen on my last Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade. I had some extra sting this morning but no real redness and no blood. The blade has definitely been pushed past its limits. I shave before I shower and in the shower when washing my face again I can still feel stubble that has been left behind. The first week was great, the second week not so much. I did want to try these blades for an extra week and I am happy that I tried them for some extra shaves. Let’s see what the last shave brings in the morning.

Vikings at the Gate: Week ten, blade nine, Vikings Sword Super Stainless.

Last shave of this wonderful blade challenge. I have used this Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade for fourteen straight shaves. The first seven were really, really good. The second week not so much. The blade struggled ATG, I was lucky that I didn’t draw much blood and I really didn’t have any redness but towards the end the increase in sting when I used my Alum Block was noticeable. I did have to increase the pressure to try and cut the whiskers and it didn’t really work as I could still feel stubble in the shower after my shave. I am glad that I tried it, I think in the next lot of blade challenges I will try and take and least one of the blades to an extra weeks worth of shaves. I would like to thank @mikey and @Space_Cadet for supplying the blades and of course @Grundi for running the blade challenge. Looking forward to the next one.

Pre: Shower, Warm water rinse
Blade: Viking Sword
Razor: Q-Shave on 4
Brush: JR #417 2-band badger
Soap: B&M Promises
Post: Lukewarm water rinse, Thayer's Cucumber Toner WH, Nivea Men Sensitive PSB

Yet another great shave, this time with a Crystal, just starting Round 5. As it has been a while since I last used the Q-Shave, it took me most of the first pass to really nail down the angle. After that, though, it was clear sailing.

Today's result was a BBS- with no nicks, weepers, or post-shave irritation.

Razor: Razorock Mission
Brush: Razorock plisoft synthetic (bruce handle)
Soap: Art of Shaving peppermint
Blade: Personna Platinum Red

14th shave on this blade, still sharp and definitely has bite. 3rd shave was a sharpest, then dullness started to creep in. If I were to do it again, I'd put this in a milder razor like DE89 or 34C.

Viking Sword Blade 1 Shave 20

Every Ready 1912
Viking Sword (20)
Tweezerman Badger
MdC Fougere
Thayers Milky Toner
Pinaud Brandy Spice

Shave 20, and this blade is done. It delivered a borderline BBS, but it wasn't very comfortable doing so. There were no mishaps, and it wasn't painful, but it had way more face feel than I am used to from this blade. That said, it obviously wasn't designed for twenty uses and also wasn't designed for the ER 1912 razor.

I still consider this a top-tier blade.

Pre: Shower, Warm water rinse
Blade: Viking Sword
Razor: Q-Shave on 4
Brush: JR #417 2-band badger
Soap: B&M Dickens Revisited
Post: Lukewarm water rinse, Thayer's Cucumber Toner WH, Nivea Men Sensitive PSB

The second shave with this combo was pleasant but unexciting.
Today's result was a DFS+ with no nicks, weepers, or post-shave irritation.

I think I found just the razor to match the Crystal! Love it!
