Abalone dubl duck gold edge scales

Here's my progress on Making some custom DD abalone replacement scales. I'm really happy The DD inlays have set nicely into the scales not glued on top. The acrylic still needs some polishing and then I'll get them set on abalone with a thin g10 liner. Overall it took about 15 tests and attempts to get the inlays set correctly and the scales perfect. I can't wait to get them finished and back on the duck. No more cell rot, I have 4 eBay DDs, 3 gold edges and a wonderedge that may get some awesome new sets when the time comes if this one finishes well.

Abalone is smashing. It will be fun to see your finished product.

Are you keeping the scales that thick and adding a liner? I only ask because the normal thickness of the scales fits flush with the edge of the bolster. Yours at this stage seems very heavy. It's a shame too that so much detail on the bolsters was lost. And all the scales you mention have cell rot? It would be a real shame to replace them.
