Astra SS First Shave

On shave 30 with an Astra SP in a postwar Tech I received a BBS shave.

Today's shave was with the same postwar Tech with an Astra SS.

The shave was DFS for shave 1. The shave felt great but was not as close.

I didn't start the SP in the Tech, so can't compare, but I will take the SS to 30 shaves and see if it's performance improves. If it will go that far.

I'm sure the SS will perform well in the NEW SC, I may throw it in there somewhere down the line.

I only tried one Astra SS but it seemed very similar to the SP, maybe slightly smoother. It's been awhile though. Good luck!

I used a new Feather blade in the postwar Tech today for a first shave comparison. BBS with the Feather, defiantly better on first shave.

If the SS is anything like the SP, performance will pick up.

Shave 2 with the is definitely closer than shave 1. The blade is smooth. Still DFS, but closer to BBS.

The Astra SP in the NEW SC was great out the rapper. I guess that had to do with the increased blade exposure. When I switched it to the Tech it already had about 20 shaves on it.

Astra SS are good blades
I use the Astra SP, which are very similar in performance, but cost a lot less

The price differential isn't that great. Amazon has 100 SPs for $9.83 and 100 SSs for $11.27. That's a difference of $1.44 for 100 blades.

I don't have an account on Amazon, I never bothered because the delivery charges to Spain are prohibitively expensive
I buy from eBay, partly because positive feedback from sellers improves my seller rating (414 *) with 100% positive feedback, and makes potential customers more confident to buy from me,
and mainly because the prices are very reasonable for SPs and quite more than it's worth for SSs...

100x Astra SP, from €8,27 or my favourite - €9,29 including an Arko Shaving Stick - all prices inclusive of shipping from Turkey to Spain

2 shaves in, I don't see the SS being any better or worse than the SP. I'm using the postwar Tech, differences may show more with more blade exposure.

Now we're cooking with gas

Shave 3 with the SS was BBS all the way...

The shave felt like someone removed my blade, it was extremely smooth.

The postwar Tech and Astra SS & SP get along real well, excellent combination.

Will it get to 30 shaves with ease like the SP? Stay tuned!

I love the Astra SS blades.... smooth and sharp,... I got my 100 for under 12 bucks from Amazon....

First I figured I would get maybe 6 to 8 shaves out of each one... Surprisingly I got over 10 a couple of times... I am impressed.

I have several brands I use in rotation, but I could be completely satisfied to use these as my only blade. For me they are that good.

Shave 5

Another great BBS shave today. It feels like this blade keeps getting better and better! Nice and smooth.

Shave 7

I'm really liking the postwar Tech. I had it in my collection for 2 years, never really used it, I was stuck on the prewar Tech.

The Astra SS in extremely smooth and efficient.

When I tried the Astra's, I preferred the SS to the SP. I found the SS to be just as sharp but smoother than the SP.
