What's new

Hi all from Michigan

I was tired of the cost of carts. So I studied this site for information. Purchased a Merkur 34C DE, Van Der Hagen Delux soap and 100 Personna blades. Already had a cheap boar brush and mug. Used it twice so far. Need more practice to get a closer shave. Starting slow to try not to get razor burn. Doing two passes one with grain and one across grain. Enjoying the experience. Appreciate all the available information.

Hello and welcome. Great to have you here on B&B. Wander on over to the Hall of Fame and introduce yourself.

Welcome. Nice selection on blades.

Welcome. From my experience, the part of the shave which gets me the closest shave is the final pass, against the grain. By the time you've done the with the grain, and the across the grain pass, you've removed a lot of the beard so that the final against the grain pass is basically a clean-up pass and not irritating. Light pressure is a must. This works for me. Enjoy the shaves.

Howdy! Welcome to B&B! It's a pleasure to have you onboard. The B&B ShaveWiki is a great place to learn about products, technique, terminologies, tips, and more: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/

As BSAGuy mentioned, feel free to make an introduction in the Hall of Fame: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/forumdisplay.php/30-Hall-of-Fame

There are plenty of wonderful members on here to advise, assist, and encourage wet shavers of any experience level. Enjoy!

Sounds like you are well on the way........just take your time with it. The closer shaves will come, sooner than you think. Just don't press it......let the weight of your 34c do the work. Apply as least pressure as possible. Enjoy the ride.
