Sandwich Pronunciation?

I think I mostly use the UK pronunciation...I think it 'flows' more evenly (sanwich...w/ a silent 'd'. Actually, we don’t really pronounce letters...we 'read' them because some of us have a 'habit' of pronouncing sounds).

The pause is important. :p

I just usually call it by the ingredients. like Ham & Swiss on Rye, or Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato, or Grilled Cheese ... and leave the word "sandwich" to be understood in context without having to say it out loud.

sam-witch(which) or grinder depending on the specific one i want, my favorite, a BLT with mayo, cucs, pickels, and banana peppers.

"Sangwich"? What is the origin or basis for that pronunciation? I've never heard that one before and it doesn't make sense to me.

I alternate between "sand-witch" and "san-witch" but most often pronounce it the latter way.
