Opinions about Stanwell 207 poker

So I'm sorely tempted to try a Stanwell poker (style 207). I just love the shape. Anybody have any experience with this pipe? What do you think?

No experince but I have promised myself that the next pipe I buy will be a poker style.

I picked one up in this finish about a year ago. It's a decent smoker and comfortable in the hand.

Thanks. Could you elaborate a bit on decent smoker? How hot or cool does it smoke?

It has a narrow but deep bowl, so it smokes fairly cool with a standard three stage load. I'd say it smokes as well as a non-system Peterson. Decent thickness to the bowl as well so it's easy to handle and gesture with.

It's been dedicated to Virginias and VaPers. I haven't tried a straight burley through it yet, but I tend to prefer wider bowls for those. It'd be fine for English blends as well.

Poker is definitely my favorite shape, at least when stationary...I've discovered that my oom paul clenches so very comfortably while driving.

OK... now if I can sell those four pipes, I'll get the Stanwell 207.
