Strop quality/wrinkle question

I'm curious. How smooth does a new strop have to be? I received a couple of strops recently and both had wrinkles. But in one of them, the wrinkles and even edge gouges seem serious enough that I've contacted the seller and am waiting for a response. I'm pretty sure that one needs to be returned or replaced. In the other there seems to visible wrinkling but I'm not sure whether I should use it anyway after trying to smooth it out with a mug or something similar.

I want to ask if this is the kind of thing that should be treated as normal? Can I just smooth this out? (This is from the nicer strop)

Can you feel it when you strop?

The piece of leather look very thin. Almost like a piece of vinyl. I don't believe the wrinkles will affect your stropping.
