I just rinse in warm water, give it a test lather and then rinse again. Let dry and then use.

I always advise against soaking brushes over night or let them sit with soap in it.
Just do a couple of hand lathers with a nice scented soap, rinse out well with warm water and you are good to go.
I have had a couple of cases where a customer had let sit a brush overnight in water and destroyed a brush (happened to a real ivory brush and to a couple of wood brushes).

I lather it and let it dry overnight to get the smell out of it.
+1. What kind of brush is it--- boar, badger, synthetic or horse (or some combination)? I would use the method described in the linked article, unless it's synthetic, in which case I don't think there is anything to really break in.Check out the How To Break In A Brush & Get The Funk Out thread.
