La Toja shave stick hits the mark

Running low on my stock of Arko I picked up a stick of La Toja in Spain for €1.95. That's twice what I get Arko for back in the US. Nonetheless, peanuts in absolute terms.

And what a great performer. I like the old, traditional smell of Arko but La Toja is great too. A nice peppery undertone, and it just feels good to experience a traditional quality product.

Shave sticks just seem right. They're so compact and yet deliver the goods at a ridiculously cheap price point.

Pepper, hmm nice word to put to that scent.

I always thought it smelled like strong mineral water.

My daughter brought me back four La Toja sticks from Spain and I have to agree that they are indeed excellent.
I just used one in a travel set up with 2013 R41 and Muhle Black Fibre, and they are perfect in that role.

My first shave stick was from DR Harris. Good but a little pricey. I tried La Toja and never bothered to replace the Harris. I still have about three La Toja sticks in reserve and I use the stuff for travel and even at home.

If they made these in pucks, I'd hoard a few for sure.

Does the La Toja smell the same and the Speick stick?
