Is it an issue where the motor does not turn on, or it starts but the burrs do not spin? Maybe there is a blown fuse, stripped gears, sheared pin?? I would expect Baratza to have diagnostic tips and parts to get it back working.
After using the burr grinder for 2.5 years. I was instructed by the "boss" to get one yesterday while this "all gets figured out". Got a Caprezzo 560 to tide us over
+1, customer support is excellent. And they sell all individual parts. I've replaced burrs on a maestro but haven't taken one totally apart. Here's a video that shows how to get it apart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyQ_AywdBRQ
It doesn't work by both switches right? I'm thinking has to be a blown fuse or the circuit board.
Call them on the phone (toll free) or email them. They are very helpful. they will tell you what to do to determine if it is the switch, the motor, the gearbox, or the controller board.
Brian there is a safety switch on the hopper on the original Maestro. If it's turned all the way coarse or displaced by built up grounds around the hopper the motor will not turn on. If you remove the timer knob and the hopper you can remove the outer case and see what's going on there.
