What's new

My Maestro bit the dust

Is it an issue where the motor does not turn on, or it starts but the burrs do not spin? Maybe there is a blown fuse, stripped gears, sheared pin?? I would expect Baratza to have diagnostic tips and parts to get it back working.

Motor does not turn on.

After using the burr grinder for 2.5 years. I was instructed by the "boss" to get one yesterday while this "all gets figured out". Got a Caprezzo 560 to tide us over

Get a new one and give me the old one. I'll have Baratza fix it and bring it to work to replace the cheap cuisinart burr grinder.

I stripped the gear on my Baratza and it wouldn't turn on. Ordered parts and it worked great again.

I've completely rebuilt 2 Maestro grinders.

VERY easy to do and all parts are available and NOT very expensive.

List of PDF "how to fix" documents: https://www.baratza.com/troubleshooting/

List of Maestro parts: https://www.baratza.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=PBMP

Call them on the phone (toll free) or email them. They are very helpful. they will tell you what to do to determine if it is the switch, the motor, the gearbox, or the controller board.

Brian there is a safety switch on the hopper on the original Maestro. If it's turned all the way coarse or displaced by built up grounds around the hopper the motor will not turn on. If you remove the timer knob and the hopper you can remove the outer case and see what's going on there.
