Open Comb before and after w/repair/disassembly

Imatabor sent me his Sheraton and British Popular for some cleaning and repair. The Sheraton isn't damaged and was sent to me more for measurements on a potential project and a light cleaning. The popular has a dropped knob and some bent teeth. Here are the before photos of the two:

Now cap, look what youve done now I gotta get myself an aristocrat or an oc. Well done cap great work. Theres no Gillette that cap cant restore.

Hey I know thoses razors.

Didn't realize the popular had bent teeth.
They are slightly misaligned....I decided I am not going to touch them. The Popular is soaking right now, it is pretty cruddy on the inside.

Thank you, Sir! I am sure someone will find one someday that I will not be able to restore...
Another CAP thread = another subscription
Thank you, Wes!

Alright gents, here is the popular taken apart. The TTO knob is actually supposed to remain attached to the razor handle but it was so loose, it came out as well:

Chris, thanks for the pictures as it is so cool to see the insides. Is this fixable?
You bet, Roopesh! I agree. Yes, it is fixable. It requires some patience and delicacy but I use the same methods when I repair dropped knobs on the fatboys and slims. It's all brass so it is quite literally an easy fix.

Sure! So when I repair a dropped knob on any TTO razor that is constructed to permit such a repair, I simply use a small gauge copper wire to fit inside the groove above the TTO knob itself. After I fit the wire around it, I use my wood clamp to compress around the wire with my bench vise multiple times. Check this out for reference and illustration, it's post 830. I suppose a drill chuck would suffice and maybe even work better but I don't have any chucks large enough to illustrate this. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have used a wire and a hose clamps on a SS. The popular had a smaller groove an the shape of handle make it so I couldn't get it hence the trip to the Captain.

Here's the popular all cleaned, repaired, and ready for replating:

This popular is an interesting razor...I'm not entirely sure what causes the doors to open. There aren't any ears or mechanical pieces that catch and make the doors open. ???

And the Sheraton after a light cleanup:

It's always nice to see what a true craftsman can do; even more so when it's YOUR razor. Thank you CAP for sharing with the B&B world and thank you Chris E. for referring me to CAP.

Looking forward to getting the fixed, replated 19 back home. I have another one that didn't need any work so it will be interesting to compare them.

It is my pleasure, Sir. I am glad that Chris has entrusted me with performing the repairs on his customer's razors, there is a great deal of trust there! I cannot wait to see that No. 19 all dolled up in fresh gold plating:drool:

Next up for some British razor love, is Slr31. He sent me an OC for some TLC. Before photos:
