What's new

HELP PLEASE! I screwed up and spilled whiskey all over estate pipe stem!

I'm a such a maroon!

The pipe was in absolutely beautiful, pristine condition and like an idiot, I messed around with it and ended up spilling Maker's Mark all over the stem. I tried to wash it off quickly with water and a kleenex but the damage was done.

Is there any way to get it looking like new again??

I could kick myself for being such a moron.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
You took the wax off is all. You can get the stem wax easy enough, but people have said that chapstick does a real good job.

Okay, red alert averted! Situation has been stabilized!

I was able to get all the gunk off with baking powder, hot water, and about 3 dozen qtips!

Is there any way to polish the stem now so that it looks shiny and new; or at least not as dull?

Some folks use a little olive oil for a quick polish. Best bet is a specialty product like obsidian oil, but Chapstick or olive oil will work in a pinch.

Thanks very much - I have both on hand; is one more effective than the other?

I have several oils, including coconut and almond oil, which I would imagine might work as well as olive. I also have a stockpile of aquaphor healing ointment and vaseline.

WOW!!! Coconut oil for the win!

It actually looks better now than before this little acciddent. This will be my go to polish from now on.

In case anyone needed proof, see the above photo.
