I have no issue with collecting. I understand people who have dozens of razors because it's their hobby, but at the same time I don't think anybody "should" have more than one or two razors total that work best for them.

Of course anybody with any AD knows that "should" and "want to" are very different beasts.

In no particular order:

1) #22 Aristocrat
2) FatBoy
3) Merkur 37/39c Slant
4) Gillette SS Flare Tip
5) Feather AS-D1

In no order ...

Gillette British Aristocrat #16 - best solid guard bar razor ever made IMHO
Gillette British Aristocrat #15 - best open comb razor ever made IMHO
Gillette Slim Adjustable L1 - or your birth year equivalent
Gillette Double Ring - cause shaving with one of the first Gillettes ever made is something special
Your father's or grandfather's razor or any other with family history!

Merkur 38C
Gillette 40's SS
Pre-war Gillette Tech...for the boy when he's older.
Gillette Sensor <--- for air travel.

Tho you folks here have piqued my interest for a NEW...

Im fairly new but here are the 5 I would recommend

1) EJ DE89 - great for beginners and vets....and it looks outstanding
2) Gillette Adjustable - I prefer the Black Beauty, but I think every DE shaver should try one
3) Ikon DLC Slant - Bets shaver I own (Ive only used it twice)
4) A Straight Razor - W and B, Helji, Fili,......something old and bada$$
5) Some kind of SE razor - You gotta try everything once


* I havent ever used and OC....but thats my next razor
