I've been messing around with Derbys and Personnas lately, but nothing feels quite so good as a fresh Astra in the razor. My first time out with the Port-au-Prince, and it is great as well. I've been working my way through my Stirling samples and I was beginning to the that they all were a bit funky smelling (not in a good way). Luckily, this one smells great, the lather was rich, slick and protective, and the post shave was top notch as well; no need for the Thayer's today.

Life is filled with challenges. In the larger scheme of things, this one is relatively small. In the scheme of my tender visage, burdened as it is with a plethora of whiskerage, this will call on of all my generally limited dexterity.
Diagnosis: avulsion/rupture of the extensor digitorum profundus tendon -- in Latin, that means "mallet finger." A beard may follow.
No pain. No gain either.
The splint you see here was replaced by a nifty custom thermoplastic gizmo fitted earlier today (but after I snapped this photo) by my new best friend, Robyn, the physical therapist specialist in charge of injuries to the hand. My new orthopedist, whose first name is Ghenghis (no, really, that is his actual name -- maybe he spells it "Genghis" ... his card is around here somewhere), says that in ten weeks I'll be as good as I'll get, if not as good as new (new was nearly 55 years ago).
Okay, I did actually shave today and what you see is what I used.
