Its a shame that most people no longer take pride in the way they dress. As a teen I never cared other than keeping my dress shoes polished. One does get more respect for taking some pride in their appearance from others.

Turning the topic of this thread upside down, here is article about someone from more than a century ago predicting what would be in fashion in the late 20th century. Seems that fashion predictions are harder than science fiction predictions. The Atlantic magazine article:
