Williams Aqua Velva

Anybody have this? This is the European (Spain) version and it comes in 200 ml glass . How does this compare to the Ice Blue AV classic?

Yep. It's made by the Sara Lee Corp. I believe. It's a lighter scent and lighter on the menthol compared to the U.S. Aqua Velva. A more subdued version you might say. It's even lighter in color. But it's still very much Aqua Velva IMO.... just lighter in every way.

Ben

Thanks Ben. I noticed it's lighter in color too......which do you prefer among the two? does it have a good staying power?

I'm keen on getting this is bec of the glass bottle but I guess if the juice is not the same then that's reason enough for me to get one

Well, I'd say it's very close as far as preference goes and really it just comes down to my mood of the day. Sometimes even really good things are better when they are subdued a bit. I'd say if you like good old U.S. Aqua Velva then this is definitely worth trying. Just to say you did if for no other reason. Staying power.... not as much as the U.S. version..... but I'd say it does have more than some other aftershave splashes out there. The glass bottle with the retro screw cap is very cool. It's not terribly expensive to get the 200 ml bottle either even from a Spanish site. My recommendation is to give it a try.... if you don't like it as well as the U.S. AV, then keep the glass bottle and decant the U.S. AV into it when you're done. I think you will enjoy it though.

Ben

I agree, that retro screw cap on proper glass looks way better than my plastic AV bottle.....I was actually hunting for a vintage AV glass bottle when I bump into this Williams version...I'm gonna head to the Spanish site and check out the shipping cost.

Picked up a bottle when I was in France a couple months back. It is in a nifty square-ish bottle and like everyone said is lighter in color, smell, and menthol content. However, performance is basically the same to me. I need to post a pic

I got a bottle in France too, I was curious how it compared to the US version. I am pretty happy with it, especially when I consider how cheap it was.$aqua_velva_pp_so.JPG

I have some of the French Aqua Velva. It's lighter than the USA variety and has slightly different ingredients but seems to smell very similar to the USA version. I like it. From the description of the Spanish version I think the French version might be similar/the same.

Anyone have any luck tracking down a way to get this sent to U.S.? I would really like to get a bottle or two.

This is where I got mine: http://www.varonia.com/product.php?id_product=174

While you're at it, you might want to get a little retro-looking bottle of Floid Vigoroso: http://www.varonia.com/product.php?id_product=136

They're pretty cool. This site also has T&H stuff pretty cheap. They will ship to the U.S., but if I remember right it took a good 2 or 3 weeks.

I got a couple bottles of this version from Barbiere di Figaro: http://www.barbieredifigaro.nl/index.php/en/alle-scheerproducten/aqua-velva-aftershave-100-ml-detail

They also have a B&B discount code for an additional 5% off. Eric is a great vendor to work with and their site has been updated quite a bit for the better since I've ordered with them. Highly recommended vendor.

Thanks for sharing this. Do you recall what their shipping charges were? It's showing just over 6 euro, without logging in.

I do not recall. It was quite a while ago that I ordered it... and I placed a relatively large order so the shipping charges were probably larger. I guess you could just fill your cart and get to the final screen and if it's more than you want to pay, back out.

Ben did you buy that retro looking Floid? They put up two different pictures for this item. I'll definitely hit the buy button if it's indeed the retro looking bottle that's for sale...

Yes, I got the one on the left (top). It's a smaller bottle.... 75ml I believe. I think I even emailed them about the bottles to make sure that the ones in the pictures on the website were exactly what you get. They are.... or at least they were for me.

Thanks Ben, guess I will email them too before I hit that buy button.
