Don't really want to he bowl after reading about it limiting your brush selection. Thinking of grating ~1.5 sticks into a bowl and going with that. Any idea if these two soaps are the same formulation?
Does La Toja stick = La Toja in the bowl?

They are not. La toja is one produtct line manufactured by Henckel . and Manantiales de la toja is the company that manufactures the bowl (maybe some kind of sister company or just purchased the rights I dont really know). from what I read is that the bowl is made in La toja island in spain. It constains more minerals the scent is also a bit different. I love both. Both work very good probably the same products just more minerals in the bowl.

I have both and to be perfectly honest, whilst I love the bowl, I find myself reaching for the stick far more often. Practicality is the main reason. There is a subtle scent difference but performance is equal in my opinion. I'll be buying more sticks but not the Manantiales.
They are diferent, with slightly different formulas. To me, the bowl is a bit creamier.
I use both and love both, with a slight preference for the Manantiales bowl. And I agree with the observations posted above: both soaps are terrific performers, very similar but not exactly the same. Our Spanish Vendor Juan of Gifts & Care once also told me that the current La Toja stick has been reformulated, while the Manantiales puck is faithful to the original formula.
From what I have heard, the Manantiales Shave Soap may have recently been discontinued.

Sure. It looks like only a minor change.
I got it in August so I suppose its newer.
