Gico shoes?

I was at a thrift store and saw some appealing shoes branded "GICO" and "made in Italy." The leather seemed nice and soft and they were in great overall condition.

I did some googling, but I can't find much about these.

Does anyone know if these are a luxury gem, or should I just save my $15 and look for something better?

In theory I agree to that suggestion. It's just that once in a long while some very expensive shoes make their way onto the rack, and it feels super good to pick up something $500+ for less than $20. I may be a scavenger, but I prefer only the best cuts of carrion.
