What's new

Who can name movies or TV shows that have shaving scenes.

I have been looking for this for a long time, but only just found the episode...

At about the 2:25 mark, Jack is shaving and makes a joke about how many different types of shaving cream are available, but how much difficulty he had finding one with just plain soap in it.

Later, Polly (the bird) asks Jack "How ya fixed for blades?"

just found one...mel gibson on "edge of darkness" 2010 suspense thriller movie, at the 1:30 mark he shaves using a razor. cant make out the razor though.

yep, i watched edge of darkness this weekend, i recognized the green can of barbasol, but not the razor, decent flick, btw.

Curly Shaves some ice......awesome... there is another one when the boy's were cavemen...and Moe was shaving with the axe.

I've seen a few movies that had them but can't remember them all. I know Valkyrie has one in it. Strangely, I think Tom Cruise was using a Gillette and it looked like a Ranger Tech or similar, but he was German.

By the way, don’t copy his technique.

yeah every time i see this scene i cringe and think (sometimes out loud) do these people know how these things are supposed to be used?

i've seen a few other movies where a DE is held with the head at a right angle to the face

Doesn't Dustin Hoffman's character cut himself with a Gillette Slim adjusted to 1 in The Graduate as his mom (wearing a similar black negligee as Mrs Robinson) is asking him where he goes at night? I read that somewhere but can't quite confirm it was actually a Slim. The little endcap in the handle looks right.

When he puts the razor into the plastic bag, I swear it looks like the base plate (guard) is on upside down. Anybody else see that?

I stumbled across High Sierra (1941) with Humphrey Bogart last night. I think it's about 20 minutes in at the cabin that Bogart's character Roy is shaving. I couldn't tell what type of razor he uses, but he's taking some pretty mean swipes with it! Also, looking at wikipedia, I didn't realize that Pard, the dog, is actually Bogarts!

There's a few small film production company here in the UK that acquire razors from me for period dramas etc. I've supplied a Schick Injector and a Superspeed so far.

Also, they sometimes borrow fountain pens too - I've supplied an Onoto (circa 1910) - not sure what it was used in though :-(

Not razor related but I remember an episode of 'Upstairs Downstairs' - a long running period drama in the 1970s in UK. The drama progressed from turn of the century (1900) to around 1930. In a particular episode, the guy's wife had just been lost on Titanic (1912 of course) and he was writing with a fountain pen with screw cap and pocket clip - clearly mid 1920s or later.

It's nice when the producers get little details like the right pen or razor for the period..
