Gillette #66

I am looking for more information on the #66. Since I can't search for that term, it is possible that there are several threads that answer my questions, I just am not sure how to find them

First, Did all #66s in the green cases (the ones similar to the President case) come with the fancy blade cases too? Or were those only with the Coronation sets? If not, what blade packs came with the others?

Second, does anyone know the approximate years they were made?

Third, Does anyone have subscriptions or links to threads about the #66 that they could link to?

Fourth, lets see some pictures. I love razor porn.

I can date the #66 only from the Ad´s I have. The Conoration #66 from 1953

and the "normal" #66 from 1956

The only different that I know is the crown on the case. And the dispenser holder from the conoration set is chromium, from the "normal" #66 set aluminum with a Dispenser 10 Blue Gillette Blades.

Thanks Achim! That will sure make it hard to complete my set.
Thanks for posting the advertisements!

I recently bought what I think is a #66 Aristocrat, did find some threads about it when i entered the search term:

no.66

In my opinion they are the best looking razors made. (along with the #16 and #22 which look essentially the same.)

Wouldn't they just be regular Aristocrats and the numbers just refers to the set or case they came in? Or does the manufacture and plating improve with a higher number?

The 'regular' came out wrong. I gather the 66 is top notch, but wondered what the difference was between the different numbered sets: is it the year or place of manufacture? and/or the quality of the Aristocrat inside from one to the other?

As far as I can tell Gillette choose the numbers at random. They are non-sequential as far as production dates, and they don't seem to be by the grade of the razor. I think they pretty much choose a number that wasn't already taken and labeled it. Sometimes there were even two sets with identical razors, but different cases that got different numbers, because the set was different. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, I am just starting on the British Aristocrats.

Kerouac, Thanks for the tip, that did come up with lots of results!

Here is a bit of razor porn, just arrived today. I posted it in the haul too, but this is the reason for the thread. Thanks for the info and links guys!
