What's new

Which is it?

Guys I've shaved to day with this beuty (IMHO). I'm not sure what it's name is. Theres a few I've seen but which is it.

It has the 'bullett' tip, it has the 'magic guiding eye' and it looks like what folk call the 'flying wing' but again which is it?

A real nice smooth shave with a new GEM stainless blade and Arko cream. The right handle length, weight and colour.

All the vintage ads I've ever seen ("ever" being within the last 20 minutes) list it as just a Gem Razor, with the Guiding Eye being a highlighted feature. I only found two Flying Wing references, and they made it sound like Flying Wing referred to a specific set, and not the razor in general. That was my impression, anyway. I still use Flying Wing as a generalization, because it sounds cooler.

Here's a link to an older B&B post that has a picture of an old catalog listing the Gem Flying Wing.

Here's a link to a newspaper with an ad that lists: "'Flying Wing' set Gold-plated 'Guiding Eye' razor."

It is know both as the "bullet tip" and the "flying wing"

I doubt that these are "official" names for it but if you use either on B&B everyone should know what razor you are talking about

What/where is this "guiding eye"
It's just a circle right on the cap. Not all Flying Wings have them, as you can see from turtle's picture, but I think most of them did. It's supposed to be a reminder to hold the razor flat against your face to get the "perfect shave."
