What's new

What is your most recent “unbelievable find/deal” that you came into on hone(s)?

I got these for under a 100 bills. NOS coticule and BBW. The Dorko had maybe been used. Had some weird stain on the scales that rinsed off with water.

Yeah. I’m still deciding what to do about it. If it didn’t have a perfect 9” runway of BBW on the other side it would already be two slanty 4.5” stones.
That's how my 11" charnley is, though it's only got a couple mm left to go now. From the rounded bottom is pretty obviously it is old so I didn't want to cut it.

Recently took a chance on a lot for a lot less then a Benjamin. Got a very nice coticule, mystery gray slate, 2 old fine india stones, and one of the barber hones that is perforated on one side. If i ever touched a thuri before i might be able to take a guess on the slate. It is an identical cut as another recent acquisition but without the rotten egg smell when lapped. The coticule alone was a good deal at the price. Not sure if the barber hone has survived the cleaning process.

"Look what I found"
It was a peaceful night until a raccoon gang war woke me up. Unable to sleep, let’s do some online shopping. Found this posted 15 minutes earlier. I normally pass on combination oil stones but, yeaaaaaaah, I think I will take a chance on this. For some extra shipping, I got a 8” coticule in a hinged case

Ffs Tim. I don’t think I know you well enough to say that yet. But I do say that.

A while back I found this washita in a used tool shop. Oli id’ed as a Lily White from one tiny corner of a label. Just nuts.

Recently, found a labeled soft Lily white in my uncles home town. Buried under decades of oil, one of the last things left of an old timers huge tool collection. Love having one from near by since he taught me how to woodwork and sail.

Seems like all I really find are washita.

Two hard 30/40 cuts, a bench-size suita, a beautiful patterned asagi with a purple end stamp, two creamy and lovely suita koppa, and a soft but very fine barber size. Total cost: $135 US.

Not very recent, but I found this nice little Charn at the bottom of a junk box, all covered in muck. Think I paid about five dollarydoos for it.
