Well, according to your NIH link, Ivory is a tallow-based soap. I seem to learn something every day on this board.
I always knew there was something different about Ivory that I liked, I've always had a soft spot for it. When I was a starving student, I could take long, hot showers in the gang bathrooms of the dormitory for free. I could buy a 10-bar pack of Ivory at the dollar store for the same money as a two-bar pack of fancy perfumed deodorant soaps, maybe about $1.50 at the time. Ivory was all I used, for bath soap, shampoo, and shaving. Very mild.
