May 1, 2024 Wednesday shave

Razor: Yaqi Remus
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild (3)
Soap: Barrister and Mann Le Grand Chypre
Brush: AP Shaving 24mm G5A, new
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Post shave: Omega alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Lucky Tiger Aftershave and Face Tonic

This was a three pass shave. The star of the shave was the new AP Shave G5A brush. I'm quite happy with its size and performance, a great brush!
No weepers, etc and just slightly tight skin after the shave. All in all, very good.

9.6/10

Enjoy your day!

May 2024 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Hello friends

Today is the Labor Day holiday here. I took advantage of the beautiful day to start using Mike’s Lime and Pinaud Cittus Musk again. How wonderful!

Might Pegasus Mistura is getting better and better, but in this third use it is still a bit rough and a big lather eater. It will possibly be my favorite brush.

Greencult 2.0 plate II and Gillette Silver Blue (1) were splendid, as always.

With us, Bob Brookmeyer and friends, and what friends…Stan Getz, Gary Burton, Herbie Hancock, Ron Cater and Elvin Jones.

Rating: 10

Have a nice day and great shaves!

Wednesday’s shave….
Heritage Shaving Gibbs tribute
7 OC yellow pack blade
Omega 10108 boar….tremendous brush and inexpensive
SC Opuntia
After a solid month of vintage razors I decided to kind of carry on but with a modern version of an old classic. The Heritage is a great razor , you just need to check the blade alignment when fitting a new one. I’ve used it 6 times now and it gives an awesome shave…up with my best . The blade gap when fully opened looks pretty large to me but I use it at halfway open and it’s super. 2 passes is good for a DFS++. It’s 9/10 even without much effort.

May 1

Razor: Gillette New SC (replated in nickel)
Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum (4)
Brush: Omega Jade premium boar
P/S: PAA Ice Cube (as stick)
Soap: Klar Seifen
A/S: Dickinson's witch hazel
A/S: Proraso Green

DFS++

The PAA Ice Cube allows you to make any soap mentholated. Very enjoyable shave with 'Iced Klar'.

Pre: Stirling Pre-Shave Soap
Razor: RazoRock GC .76-P
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (1)
Soap: Stirling Deep Blue Sea (on the fence about this scent)
Brush: PAA Amber Aerolite 24mm Synthetic (love this brush)
Bowl: Timeless plastic
Post-Shave: Burt's Bees witch hazel and aloe followed by Stirling unscented balm

Incredible shave, 10/10. Second day with the GC .76-P after a hiatus, and it remains the most natural, smooth and efficient shave to date for me.
