Ditto, ditto
Prep: warm water splash

Razor: Blackland Vector, satin stainless
Blade: Feather AC Pro (3)
Soap: Cella Red
Brush: Zenith 507 boar

Post: hot shower, Dickinson’s Original
Aftershave: The Rub

Fantastic two-pass DFS+. Smooth, close, feels great. Love the lather I get with Cella and a big, scrubby boar and the Vector is now my favorite razor, at least until next week.

Cheers, lads

Pre shave: Kyle's Routine, La Toja 🇪🇸

Today was about testing a theory using Mike's soap.
First use of Mike's soap yesterday seemed like my razor wasn't making it all the way to my face.
Mike's was very creamy and even when I made it wetter it seemed to create a boundary layer that my razor wasn't up to the task of cutting through. At least that was my impression.
So:
Today I used my Fatboy opened up to various settings to test the theory.
Setting 8 was magic. The shave was clean, close and very comfortable and much easier then yesterday's.
I love this soap and learning about the differences in our shaving hobby.
Asian Pear AS is delightful and really transforms the atmosphere around my face.
Today was a perfect shave!

I see that you're using Mike's.
I recently started my first use of Mike's soap and now recognize that it's very protective and creamy. Have you found any razor/blade combinations that work best with this soap?

Actually a though question as I do not really factor my soap in when thinking razors and blades. But I have checked my statistics for you and high scores should give some indication right?

Modern
  • Blackbird SS with a Sputnik blade (1)
  • Razorock Game Changer .84OC with GSB (1)
  • Lambda Athena with GSB, a Shark Chrome (6) or ASCO (5)
  • Karve CB OC-C with Shark Chrome (3)

Vintage
  • Canadian Tech with GSB (2)
  • Prewar US Tech with Chinese KCG (1)
  • Gillette Red Tip with Sharp Titanium (3)
  • Gillette NEW RFB with Sharp Titanium (4)
But my Ti95 with any blade and my Game Changer .84SB with any blade work also extremely well. The Blackbird appears to be more or less blade agnostic too.

What I am maybe observing or saying is that Mike's provides such a nice cushion and glide that you can use whatever combination you fancy using that day.

Cheers,

Guido.
