I know all about the controversy as I used to frequent the Reddit shaving forums years ago. It WAS a long time ago, but I have never bought anything from PAA and never will.
I‘m sure Erik/Doug doesn’t need my money and I don’t need of his soaps or aftershaves, so win/win for all!

I’ve read a bit of the drama and understand why a lot of folks feel the way they do. I’d never question anyone’s choice to avoid Phoenix. I also believe those incidents are not indicative of the current status of the shop. It can be misleading when new members ask about a Phoenix product and the thread immediately gets flooded with negative comments referring to events from a decade ago.
The website is headache inducing and the descriptions make me roll my eyes more often than not, BUT he also has a lot of unique products and scents. Stuff you really just aren’t going to find other places. I’ve bought a few things from Phoenix and every transaction has gone as smoothly as any other shop I’ve bought shaving gear from. Would I endeavor to go into business with the man? Probably not, but I also don’t make it a habit to drive customers away from every business run by people with questionable actions in their past. That quickly becomes a very difficult road to navigate.
