The Stirling balms are indeed nice. Typically I only use aloe gel, not lotion but pure gel.I’m a big fan of post shave balm. I use Stirling Unscented Balm after every shave. I occasionally use Declaration Grooming Unscented Aftershave Liniment if I have more irritation than usual. YMMV, but these work well for me and my skin. Good luck finding what works well for you.

These are my exact reasons for using Nivea Sensitive as well.Nivea sensitive balm for me. I've gone through many bottles of it over the years. Good alone or after using a scented splash. The Nivea's light scent is gone after a few minutes and it's not too heavy.
