What's new

SOTD October 16th - October 22nd

VERY Late shave today...

Proraso Pre
Omega Boar Brush
Proraso Cream (Green)
Gillette Sensor
Thayer's Witch Hazel
Proraso A/S Balm

Pinaud Bay Rum

Proraso pre/post
Mondial badger
Merkur HD
Wal-Mart Personna
T&H Trafalgar
Alum
Thayers witch hazel with aloe
Neutrogena razor defense ASB

Really a poor shave. I tried to use less shave cream since there's always so much lather left over. I thought I could economize. But I think I used the same amount of water as I do with more cream, and results were poor. The razor skipped across my skin, and, despite starting with what looked like a normal bowl of lather, I didn't even have enough for the second pass.

Saturday

Gillette Slim&Twist
Sharp Blade
MP SuperBadger
Palmolive Shaving Stick :thumbup1:

Nice shave with the good old Palmolive Stick, a bit harder to get soap from, seems very hard and dense.. But a great soap !

Merkur Classic w/Swedish Gillette (day 5)
EJ LG Super Badger
Proraso pre/post
Taylors Avocado
GFT Coral Skin Food

cut my lip during the 3rd pass when trying to go diagonally upwards against the grain on the upper lip, which inevitably resulted in copious blood loss.

Remind me never to do that again.... :nono:

Looks like a NEW model Danny! A great shaver!

d, I think that is a Gillette NEW model from the 30's. Not sure though.

Edit: GMP beat me to it. :frown:

My shave today:

Merkur HD/Merkur blade
C&E Best
Qed Rose Geranium
Thayers WH
Proraso ASB

Nice!

Thanks, guys, for the confirmation about the model of Gillette. This thing is made so nicely, and works so well, it is hard to believe it is 70-80 years old!

Cheers,

Yep. The old Gillette's are great. I have a NEW model from 1920 coming my way in the mail. Can't wait to give it a whirl.

There's just something really cool about using razors that are 2x-4x older than I am.

Merkur Futur/Euro Gillette
