Sharpening in the bush. What do you use?

I ended up making a 600/1200 combo stone from DMT diamond plates and plexiglas. As a bonus I added a short piece of ferro rod to the top for emergencies. I can use the plates with water or oil if available or dry in a pinch. I’m pretty happy with it. View attachment 1634359View attachment 1634363View attachment 1634360
I improved this a bit over the weekend by drilling some holes in the plexiglas and shoving in some waxed cotton fire starters. I put a drop of glue over the holes to seal them in. If I ever need a fire in the bush I can just take a stick and pop the cotton out and with one spark I can get almost a 4 minute burn time per piece of cotton.

My $0.02... A small rabbiters steel would be far more use than a stone on most hunting knives. You can touch up a dulling blade with a steel with little drama. If you don't have good sharpening skill, a stone can wreck an edge meaning a professional regain and sharpen when you get home.
