Senshi's Japanese Pipe TobaccOdyssey

I like that mini- would be great for work when I don't have 30+ minutes to burn. I am also glad to see the thread unlocked. When I came in an hour ago it was locked. I thought maybe bun bun got us in trouble

How could I forget the BUN BUN!

Before going to a coffee shop I found a restaurant that makes it

ok seriously what is bun bun?! ahaha i thought it was something else COMPLETLY. I thought it was the japanese sound effect for "shake shake"

It's an onomatopoeic expression. But it can be used in a variety of ways. The versatility of Bun Bun is endless ;)

So...kinda like we might say "yum"? That would be consistent with the two photos of Bun Bun on this page of the thread.

That capsule hotel photo...is that a CRT TV in the upper left corner?

With great responsibility comes minor conveniences. He probably locked it so nobody would post while he was putting together his posts one at a time.

Protip: Write up your posts in a text editor, then paste them in. You can rapidfire them as fast as the forum allows and usually nobody gets a word in edgewise, no locking required.

Thanks. I never understood people who buy pipes and don't smoke them. I don't know if I will ever smoke this one though.

smoke it!! u know you want to! To me something like that, would make me want to smoke it even more. I mean I get how some people say they dont want to ruin the value of something buy using it and they want to keep it new. But in this case, can you ever see yourself selling it? If not, why not enjoy something you love and you know your going to keep?

You are becoming the 9th Dan of enabling. I can't believe you made me buy all of those Custombilts either!

This Sunday is the tokyo Pipe Fest. It seems to be bigger and more oriented towards pipe collectors and tobacco pipe companies (where the pipe show is geared for amateur carvers)

Some of the people who have attended last year are Tokutomi, Sykes Wilford of smokingpipes.com, Adam Davidson, Ray Kurusu, Luca Di Piazza and many more. Needless to say, I'm very excited!

I'm going to be meeting up with Kuwahara-San. This year he had a booth for his pipes and he's sent me some pics of his work so far. The guy makes some really nice pipes. He actually made two new mouthpieces for a Savinelli estella pipe and a Custombilt. Excited to get those too!

Today is my 5 year anniversary in Japan and my last day in the apartment. I'll be moving into my wife's father's house for the remaining two weeks. My flight back to America is on August 7th.

This thread was really fun for me not only to document my pipe smoking journey but it was also equally enjoyable to have others express interest in my Odyssey.

Being in a similar time zone, utilizing the Stock Exchange more often, qualifying for free shipping from Smokingpipes.com are some things that I'm very exited about. Potentially meeting up with other members is also something that I hope I can realize while back in the good ole US of A.

Thank you to everyone who read and/or posted in this thread. For without you, I wouldn't have made one in the first place.

Any chance you are flying through Stuttgart on your way home to the Big Apple?
