David Lindley, guitarist best known for work with Jackson Browne, dies at 78

Lindley, an in-demand musician who recorded with everyone Linda Ronstadt to Warren Zevon, played the searing guitar solo on Browne's "Running on Empty."

Oh this is sad news! I've got all his albums (el rayo-x etc.) and saw his shows anytime he played anywhere nearby. Brilliant musician! Got to meet him once back around 1986.

His slide solo on Shawn Colvin's "Poloroids" is one of the finest musical moments and always makes the hair on my arm stand up. Slide solo starts at 2:22
