Regional Sandwiches You Need to Try in Your Lifetime! ;-)

Horseshoe Sandwich, seems indigenous to Springfield, Illinois. If you're ever inclined to have a weekend full of Abraham Lincoln.

Open-faced sandwich. Usual comprised of Texas toast, a hamburger patty, French fries, and lots of cheese sauce.

Because, well...you have to die of something.

Perch sandwich in Erie, PA and it Detroit, MI. Great fish sandwiches with freshwater perch.

But my all time favorite is the Primanti Bros. sandwich in Pittsburgh, PA. They put fresh fries, shredded cabbage (vinegar soaked) and tomato on the sandwich.

Back in the day, the workers didn’t have time to eat things separately so they put it all on the sandwich. My favorite is pastrami and second is corned beef.

Now you can find these sandwiches in Lancaster, PA and Fort Lauderdale, Florida but the original is in the Strip District in Pittsburgh. I remember a famous Steelers LB sitting down next to me and ordering a few. He looked at me and said “only one sandwich”?
