Am wondering how the number of posts are calculated?

It seems that If I make more than one post in one day, only the first one counts towards my "messages" tally.

It seems that If I make more than one post in one day, only the first one counts towards my "messages" tally.

There are some forums where posts do not count towards your tally. Shopping and deals and a few other off topic forums.
The main forums do count towards your post count tally.
It's a way to make sure that members contribute to the conversations rather than just post 40 :Hi, welcome to B&B!" posts.
I'll look at your post history and see if there is anything amiss though.

I just checked each post and as of this moment, you have 36 posts in the active forums and 20 posts in non-counting forums like Journals and diaries, Clubs and Brotherhoods, and Newbie Check-In.

Okay, that makes sense, I had several posts lately in journals and I noticed my messages weren't changing much!
