The ad just posted reminded me of my desks in grade school, many of which had a hole in the top for an ink well. The chair was fixed to the desk, however.

He was the most serious funny or the funniest serious man that ever lived. He was also a fan of the typewriter and claimed the distinction of being "the first person in the world to apply the typewriter to literature." However he also said that the typewriter led to the decay of his morals.
