What's new

lee sabini

Does anyone know how to contact. I was given an email by a fellow member, no response. I refuse to do business with someone I can't contact. Why all the cloak & dagger crap with this company?

Then don't. I too think his business model is bit unique, but that is his prerogative.

For the record, I believe that Lee isn't as involved with Rooney as he used to be, instead he is working from his home to fill orders as time permits for Morris and Forndran. (Note: this is all second hand information I've gathered from various threads on B&B).

To brucered. My apology for starting another thread but I don't know if the email was correct. I was under the impression that this forum was created to assist other members. It seems that it is impossible to find out any information on lee or the Rooney brushes. All Iam asking is how to contact him before I spend my money. If you think this is unreasonable than so be it. I own a business & I don't do business this way. If there is anyone on this forum who is willing to help me I would be more than grateful. Grayson Russell

I too have sent an e-mail and I've been waiting patiently for Lee to respond. I just assume he is busy or out hunting unicorns.

I can wait.

no apology necessary. but to be honest, you most likely have the correct email (i have PM'd you the address as well) and it's likely he has either misplaced your email, it got spammmed, filtered or is just extremely busy.

i just don't understand the need to start a 2nd thread questioning his business model, it wasn't necessary, you could have easily resurrected this thread (as you just did).

again, he is not like some of the other vendors on here, no website, he's not on the forums or facebook etc and sounds like he does this on the side (as well as having a family) and as time permits you will get a brush...when you do, it will be a doosy. they are some of the best out there if you ask me. just a matter of if you are willing to wait out the initial response from him or not.

i know as much or as little as everyone else about lee. i have only communicated with him via email and i have no idea what his relationship is or isn't with Rooney.

That would explain a lot.

If I don't get a response, I wait a few days and then fire off another email. I think sometimes he gets busy or is gone or whatever, and some stuff gets covered over never to surface again. What I do is forward my last email (or string of them) and politely cover with a note to the effect I assume he's been busy and so am following-up to make contact. Sooner or later he has always responded to me.

Chief,
When you get a new brush from Lee, is it Morris & Forndran or a Porris & Porndran? It's the natural accompaniment to your Pooney.

You are correct that it is not my concern how he runs his business model but Iam old school &do not do business with anyone no matter how great their product if I can't communicate with them. There seems to be too much mystery all around this product (location, where they are made, ect). I see red flags & from doing other reading I don't think Iam the only one. I think Iam going to pass & take another direction here.

no worries. many can't deal with the wait and lack or responses and many are willing to overlook it.

i can see both sides. i have been the lucky recipient and dealings with Lee on 3 brushes and was almost going to throw in the towel waiting too. i waited it out, there was a reasonable explanation and apology from Lee and i haven't looked back.

here is what you can expect if you follow thru or give it some time. this as my 1st M&F brush and still my favorite. it has the feel of the Old Stock Rooney's

No one can blame you for your choice.

You should simply understand that there are many here for whom the quality of Lee's product trumps the idiosyncratic nature of his business model (or un-model). Note that saying this isn't the same as defending it.

I think vocalistbob also mentioned "red flags". I'm not sure what he meant by that.

In my view it would be a stretch to publicly infer/suggest ethical and/or legal misconduct (or even concerns) based on the self-acknowledged fact a guy is somewhat difficult to communicate with and doesn't seem highly motivated to change. My old man was as ethical and law-abiding as anyone I've ever known. He was also Old School, and about as hard-headed as it gets. He never sent nor read an email, didn't write letters, and wasn't much for talking on the phone. He'd give a stranger the shirt off his back, but his attitude was probably that if people wanted to find him, it was more their problem than his. Maybe that's why I figure that however Lee wants to do business, it's his business. If I want one of his brushes badly enough, I'll find a way to connect with him.

I'm actually kinda glad he is the way he is. Otherwise 1) he could end up being completely swamped by demand and/or 2) he might end up compromising the quality of his product in order to meet broader demand. The way it is, the barriers to access, as it were, seem to have a way of thinning demand a little such that only the most courageous, patient, and persistent customers are rewarded. That seems fair to me.

I applaud him for it. no facebook bashing, no tweets slamming other makers (ikon and simpson are guilty of both) and no price gouging or MAP in effect with lee. no fancy boxes, no website to support, just a good quality brush that is fully customizable.

Good question. M&F.

The Pooney, as you might suspect, is rather aloof and neither requires nor seeks accompaniment, natural or otherwise.

Do you happen to be a fan of John Hiatt?

One does not simply walk up to Lee's house and ring the door bell.
