Well, cymbal throwing only brings up Whiplash for me.
Whiplash it is. One of the first scenes is Andrew and his father watching a movie and eating popcorn. I went there from the end of Real Genius. Like I said, the hamster wheel was spinning yesterday. Today he died of hypothermia.
