I recall buy mail ordering Firecracker because of ads in Old Comic Books in the 1950's. There was not internet, or online sources of anything. because these platform were not invented.
Best stuff was from Cereal Companies, you sent in a Box Top and Quarter for some very cool toys like Navy Frogmen that dove and surface on their own.
