Today just had to be a rose soap and horse hair brush. The TFS soaps are really quite nice.
After a very rough shave earlier this week, I took the blade to the shop and back to the honing station, and pulled out my new lapping films. This is the first razor I've retouched since starting this journey and I must say I was very pleased with the results. I have a little ways to go that made this shave specials in many ways.
Brush: Parker Silvertip Chrome
Cream: Nancy Boy Signature
Razor: Merkur Futur @ 3.5
Blade: Feather
Pre: Shower + Nancy Boy Signature Pre Shave Oil
Post: Nancy Boy Signature Aftershave Gel
Result: Best shave to date in my 6 month stint as a DE shaver!
Started with a haircut at a real barbershop I found recently on the edge of the University of Notre Dame. It's a family affair with the father, son, and a third barber working there side-by-side on Saturday mornings.
Post haircut shave (at home, not at the barbershop):
Prep: hot water scrub and soak Razor: Gillette New long-comb Blade: Feather (2) Cream: Tabac Brush: Rooney 3/1 in Pure Badger
Typical 3-pass shave, WTG, XTG, ATG
Post shave: Alum block, followed by shower. Post shower: T.N. Dickenson WH Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue from glass bottle (old-stock)
Hair: "A little dab" of Brylcreem and vigorous brushing with a firm boar bristle Vidal Sasson brush I've had since the '80s.
