First straight - Henckels

Just pulled this one off ebay as a first straight.

I'd love input from anybody. Also, I'd like to get it honed by a pro; any recommendations?

Can't wait for it to arrive!

Also, does anyone have an idea how to date a razor like this one?

Not too shabby! From the photos, it seems to be in pretty good condition for shaving (if not pristine for collecting), so you should have no problems there.

I don't know who would be best to hone it, but I expect that others will chime in with opinions ... :biggrin1:

I've got one that could be its twin. The blade stamping says "Platinum" over "Dry Hone Razor". I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Mine doesn't have the 401 stamp. Yours looks to be in a little better shape. I've been getting some great shaves out of this one. I got it at a flea market for about $20.

There was something I saw some time ago, showing those stick men and some variances in them. One was able to date the razor by the different stick man. My best guess with that razor would be around 1905 or there abouts. This brand does tend to be a very good shave.
